Lee Skandalaris is Chief Executive Officer of Quantum Ventures of Michigan. Quantum Ventures of Michigan practices an entrepreneurial and collaborative approach to investing. Lee has served an instrumental role in building companies over his career, including as an entrepreneur, founder and investor. His M&A experience spans a broad range of industries involving businesses with annual sales ranging from start-ups to over $3.0 billion. His experience includes both domestic and international acquisitions, divestitures, turnarounds, carve-outs and joint ventures. Lee is a skilled entrepreneur with a demonstrated history of growth in diverse industries. He has a passion for driving business transformation and modernization through technology, software and business process optimization. Honored by DBusiness Magazine as one of its 30 in their 30’s. He is a member of the Young Presidents Organization where he serves on the Detroit Chapter’s Board Of Directors and as its Chapter Membership Officer. Lee earned a BA in Economics from Duke University. He’s currently part of the Presidents Program at Harvard Business School.
Mr. Skandalaris’ entrepreneurial and investor experience includes successfully executing many middle-market transactions. He has held several senior officer positions including: Founder, Chairman and CEO of a billion dollar publicly traded automotive parts supplier, Chairman and CEO of an international asset management corporation and Senior Vice President of Investments at a New York-based investment bank. Mr. Skandalaris began his career as a CPA with Touche Ross & Co. Mr. Skandalaris has received honorary doctorate degrees from Michigan State University and Eastern Michigan University. He is a trustee at Washington University in St. Louis where he established the Skandalaris Center for Interdisciplinary Innovation and Entrepreneurship.
Vice President of Acquisitions
Mr. Witalec has nearly two decades of experience specializing in buy-side and sell-side advisory services serving strategic and private equity clients engaged in acquisitions, divestitures, restructuring, carve-outs, private capital raising, and venture capital. Mr. Witalec’s experience spans more than 200 domestic and cross-border transactions ranging in value from $25 million to $2 billion across a broad range of industries. At Quantum Ventures, Mr. Witalec focuses on identifying and evaluating acquisition opportunities, strategic planning and financing needs of portfolio companies, and working with senior management in Quantum’s portfolio companies. Prior to joining Quantum Ventures, Mr. Witalec was Managing Director of UHY Corporate Finance, a national investment banking / mergers & acquisitions practice and has held key positions at other national and international consulting firms. Mr. Witalec was the proud recipient of the M&A Advisor’s Emerging Leader Award in 2016 and was the sell-side advisor for Crain’s / ACG Deal of the Year in 2015.
General Counsel & V.P. of Administration
Mr. Puro has provided legal advice and counsel to both public and privately held companies on a broad range of business and financial transactions, corporate governance, litigation, intellectual property, employment and compliance matters. Mr. Puro earned a BA with honors from the University of Michigan and received a JD from Washington University in St. Louis.
Ms. Liphardt has worked in the Public Accounting field for over 30 years. She has provided accounting services to individuals and entities alike, that hold greater than $10 million in assets. Ms. Liphardt is a licensed, enrolled agent with the Internal Revenue Service for over 20 years, and holds a Bachelor of Accountancy degree from Walsh College.
Director of Philanthropy
Ms. Puro oversees the day-to-day to operations of the Skandalaris Family Foundation. She has served as corporate counsel at Manitex, worked at the US Attorney’s office and the FBI Investigations’ Counter intelligence Group. Ms. Puro graduated with honors from Washington University St. Louis with a BA and earned a JD from Washington University in St. Louis School of Law.
Director – Technology Group
Mr. Webber has been a Serial Entrepreneur in the truest sense of the term. He graduated from Detroit College of Law’s last graduating class in 1998, before becoming Michigan State University School of Law. Todd went to undergraduate school at the University of the Southwest, in Hobbs, New Mexico, on a Soccer Scholarship where he captained the team his Junior and Senior years. Todd has started and/or been part of the management team of 13 different startups since 1999. He has participated in 6 successful exits and had a few bruises along the way. Mr. Webber’s experience in building teams, being a forward thinker, and his knack for business development are a unique combination that he loves to share allowing for those around him to flourish with success.
Mr. Karr is responsible for supporting business development efforts, evaluating new deal opportunities, and working with current portfolio companies at Quantum. Mr. Karr recently graduated from Tufts University with a BA in Economics and minors in Finance and Music. At Tufts, Mr. Karr was Captain of the Men’s Golf Team and earned both All-New England & All-NESCAC honors. He also served as a member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.
